HEARTY HANDMADE GENERAL STORE
A local giftware store by a couple with a passion for the arts, local community and reinvigorating the life of the high street. The interior had to work well commercially to showcase a lot of product so layout, lighting, multi-functionality and aesthetics were all key. The project influenced a new unifying brand design carried onto the shop exterior, labelling, packaging and uniforms. Taking cues from the history of bustling Garratt Lane, a warm and welcoming general store feel was adopted, a 1950s haberdashery counter was restored as well as a stunning curved French apothecary cabinet. The fit out preserved the former butcher’s classic tongue and groove walls, meat rack and natural wood floor. A butcher's block was added as a central island display and vintage accessories nodded to the trades and professions of Earlsfield residents past and present.
