Fun at Home for Easter Babes!

Updated: Apr 15, 2021

The sun is out and we're a little bit wild. Flushed cheeks and meeting more friends at last. Trees flash with neon green tips and streets blossom in pink technicolour. A new season flaunts its fresh bright shades and it's fabulous darling! The air, so sweet, it's Easter Babes!

There's plenty to do and a long weekend to enjoy. So here's a few treats for grown-ups and babes, ideas to prep the nest and an invitation of lightness, laughter, fun, creativity, nonsense, play and a smidgen of mess for my floppy, fluffy friends!

Easter Hunting

Finally we're allowed some garden guests so hide foiled eggs, bunnies or gifts, prop open the gate and let the children and grown ups run free for the annual chocolate dash or perhaps watch the sugar fuelled, energetic back-and-forth mayhem, unfold from a comfortable seat.

"Egg hunts are proof that your children can find things when they really want."

Some treats for babes (and adults!):

Get your Bake On

It's time to celebrate with sweet so get floury in the kitchen baking up in shades of lavender, lemon, rose and pistachio, plus the richest of chocolate cakes deserve pride of place at the Easter table. Top with sliced nuts, petals and plenty of mini eggs.

All day Bakefast

Enjoy hot cross buns for breakfast with a good slathering of melty butter - 'Right to the edges' as my Nanna would say. Serve a light sliver with elevenses, a sumptuous slice over a long afternoon tea with plenty to spare to deliver a basket of goodies to a friend or neighbour.

"Cakes are healthy too, you just eat a small slice." Mary Berry

Some more treats for adults:

Easter Greens

Add the final flourish to your spring clean, with some green life to get everything looking its brilliant best. Plant bulbs and seeds in pots on a window ledge, somewhere you can watch them grow. Arrange a spring pose and let spring scents infuse your home with spring energy.

Hug a Tree

Plant your feet at the foot of a tree, let your shoulders drop and feel all your weight, transfer to its roots. Transfuse yourself with nature, connecting to the incredible force that sustains the cycle of life. Perhaps go ahead and give that tree a hug or at least a fist bump of thanks.

"To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow." Audrey Hepburn

Paint eggs

Dye eggs with foliage stencils, marble with a few drops of old nail varnish or paint by hand, gathered around the kitchen table. Be inspired by your own creativity as each turns out differently to the next and paint swirls into new colours and develops new shapes.

"I still believe in Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and true love. Don't even try to tell me different." Dolly Parton

Enjoy

Finally, sneak cuddles with fury creatures and especially enjoy their ears. Fill a bird bath or top up a feeder and enjoy some time just watching the playful birds. Make an Easter bonnet especially one that makes you look silly. Crack up, crack on and get cracking!
